Poromax® and Poroplus® Sand Control Screens
for the Oil Well Industry

Lower
Oil Well Completion
and Production Costs
Purolator’s Poromax® and Poroplus® sand control screens offer
enhancements to existing gravel pack and sand control systems. These
patented high pressure screens offer these unique features and benefits
backed by the filtration expertise of Purolator.
1) SINTERED SCREEN DESIGN – Poroplate filter media are made from
multiple layers of woven wire cloth sintered together into a rigid porous
medium. The various wire mesh layers are selected to achieve accurate
particle size control while maximizing flow rates. Purolators’ proprietary
sintering process metallurgically bonds each stainless steel wire to adjacent
wires and layers of screen. This yield self-supporting filter media,
which do not deform even under extreme pressures.
2) RUGGED CONSTRUCTION – The Poroplate medium is combined with
a protective shroud into a tubular screen jacket assembly. The entire
assembly is then MIG welded to a high strength perforated base pipe.
3)
SUPERIOR DIRT HOLDING CAPACITY – Purolator’s Poroplate design yields
a substantial increase in dirt holding capacity compared to competitive
screens.
4) INCREASED POROSITY – Poroplate media have an inflow surface
area range of 30% to 40% compared to wire wrap screens and other sintered
powder metal designs. As a result, Poromax® and Poroplus®
screens provide lower Delta P, therefore higher production rates and extended
life.
5) OPTIONS: Poromax® and Poroplus® screens are available
in 75, 125, 175, and 250 micron filtration ratings. Standard alloy
is 316L SS with alloy 20 corrosion resistant alloy as an option.
Various shroud options and base pipes are also available.
6) POROPLATE® TUBE ASSEMBLIES - Poroplate® tube assemblies
are available direct from Purolator Facet.
